As I prefer savory over sweet, I don't tend to make desserts very often, but I never can resist treating my friends and family to the fruits of my kitchen. This past weekend, I paid a visit to my Dad. As blueberries are currently in season, on this particular occasion I decided they were to be the focus of my attentions. Dumplings are gently simmered in a blueberry syrup, and the final result is surprising like a baked pudding. Much enjoyed by the diners in the house, this is an easy, yet satisfying dessert.
Feel free to substitute any type of berry for the blueberries. You might even want to consider using fresh pitted cherries instead.

I love, love, love this! What a fun idea! I'm a huge fan of anything "bread" and dumplings are something I don't make often enough, primarily because Wilson doesn't care for the texture. Lucky me, Wilson has been out of town on business since last week and won't return until the 20th so I am free to make whatever my heart desires. Additionally, the wild blackberries are about to burst into season and I anticipate having gallons of them in the next week or so.
I'm thinking this would be a great dessert as well as breakfast :)
Lisa, this looks fabulous! I don't like sweet sweets either and I prefer to eat berries fresh, but this I would certainly enjoy - like fruit soup with dumplings!
This is great Lisa! My mom makes this - she calls it "Blueberry Grunt". I am not sure what the grunting is all about though! LOL!
You are a temptress!
I have not tried making dumplings yet. They certainly look good all covered in blueberry sauce.
these look spectacular - blueberries make desserts look so colourful - I couldn't help thinking that they would be a great variation on some golden syrup dumplings I had recently with a piece of chocolate stuffed in the middle when went all gooey
These look amazing Lisa. I am drooling just looking at them. They would be lovely with some custard too!
What a color! I love blue berries
